Richard J. Porter, CLU grew up in Norman, OK and received his Bachelor degree and Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma. He joined Mutual of New York while attending OU and spent 28 years with MONY before moving to John Hancock and Signator Investors in 1999. The agency was rebranded as Rockgate Financial Partners in 2015. Richard became a Registered Representative and Chartered Life Underwriter in 1974. He became a Registered Securities Principal in 1988.

Richard is active in financial industry affairs. He served as a Board member and President of the Oklahoma City Chapter of The Society of Financial Service Professionals. He served as Board member and President of the Oklahoma City and Oklahoma State National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. In 2001 Richard was selected as Agent of the Year by the Oklahoma City NAIFA. Richard currently serves as Chair of the Oklahoma NAIFA Political Action Committee.

Richard is a member of Rotary Club 29 in Oklahoma City and the Men’s Dinner Club. He has served on the Board of the Life Underwriters Foundation and the Administrative Board and Finance Committee for McFarlin United Methodist Church in Norman. Richard teaches Junior Achievement classes in Edmond.

Richard and his wife Ann live in rural Norman and have two grown children Rick and Susan. Rick’s wife Jessica, and daughter Madalyn as well as Susan’s husband Jerry and sons Taden, Brody and Tegan live in the area and enjoy riding horses and country life at the Porter’s. Whenever possible the family enjoys fishing and jet skiing at Lake Texoma.
